The Crypt is an underground venue, both literally and in philosophy. Our passion for showcasing the best up-and-coming music and comedy underpins everything we do. The Crypt’s ethos is to be a totally inclusive place of community, where memories and friendships are forged.

The Crypt has a proud history of providing a space for artists to spread their wings, having played host to a continuously diverse cross-section of events for many, many years.

Boasting state of the art Void Acoustics sound and lighting systems, the 450 capacity venue was originally used as a public hall cinema in the early 1900s before it was destroyed by bombings in the second world war. In the 1960s it became a notorious mod bar and in the 1970s a techno and dance venue, before it was eventually rejuvenated into all its current glory in 2015.
